mexico mission

For over 35 years, we've been building homes for families across Mexico.

Serving Families in Mexico

In 1986, our new Youth Minister, Steven Mabry, took a group of High School youth and adults to Tijuana, Mexico to build houses over Spring Break.  We partner with Amor Ministries.  Their committee of Mexican pastors identifies the need, supplies camp facilities and building materials, and keeps in contact with the Mexican families.

2025 Mexico Mission Trip Coming Up

Over the years we have built single houses, double houses, churches, cinder block walls, and outhouses!  In almost 40 years we have built the equivalent of 160 single houses!  We have bult in Tijuana, Matamoros, Agua Prieta, Tecate, Juarez, and for the past 10 plus years we have been working in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point, south of Phoenix).

A typical Amor house is 11 ft x 22 ft; the floor is made of concrete mixed by hand.  The wood-frame walls are sawn by hand.  The walls are then wrapped with chicken wire and covered with stucco.  The roof is plywood, with a rubberized coating.  A door and 2 windows complete the building.

All this is completed over spring break, including a day and a half of traveling each way.  Along the way, we learn new skills, make new friends, and discover muscles we didn’t know we had!  The highlight of the week is when we gather inside the house to bless the family and hand over the keys to the families’ new homes!

The 2025 Mexico Mission will take place March 15 through 23. Thirty-five youth and adults from our church will travel to Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, to build houses for two families.
